Can someone tell me what to do about DHR?

My nephews have beeen taken into dhr custody. The social worker came to my home and approved the children to stay with me and we had court 2 days later. They sent all 3 to group homes and never explained to me why I couldn't get 1 or all of them. The allegations were physical and ual abuse. 1 of the nephews is a step nephew. So do you think I should get a lawyer and fight for these kids or what. Please help me.. My brother who is the kids father just said toi sit back and ride all of this out, that his court appointed lawyer was on their side. Help me....
