Bases of a Pyramid: How many kinds?(Geometry?

Yes, it can be any shape, from a triangle to a hexagon and even bigger. Pyramids are named by their bases. So, a pyramid with a hexagon as a base would be called a hexagonal pyramid. A triangular pyramid has a triangle for a base. A pentagonal pyramid has a pentagon as a base and ect. To find the area, you just have to find the area of the base, and then the height of the whole thing, then divide by three. This formula works for other 3 dimensional shapes too. It is Area=Area of Base of Figure*Height. If it comes to a point like a pyramid or cone, divide by 3. Hope this helps!
